How to help boys learn

I recently read a nice article on the difference between boys' and girls' brains. I usually tune out these sorts of stories because they're usually just alarmist headlines meant for cheap clicks, but I found a couple of useful tips on how to capitalize on the differences:

- You've probably heard that boys' brains have larger areas dedicated to mechanical and spatial functions. Tell your boys to draw a picture or storyboard before they sit down to write a story.

- Allow your son to take breaks and move around while doing schoolwork. Doodling is OK too.

- All kids need time outside, but I find this to be especially true for boys. Choose a program with adequate outdoor play space, walk to school if possible, and let the kids play outside everyday
