Practice random acts of kindness and senseless beauty. Everyday tip #52

I was in college the first time I heard the phrase "practice random acts of kindness and senseless beauty." I had even stronger hippyish tendencies then than I do now, so I was super impressed by it at the time and never forgot it. At the time I imagined it meant giving a stranger a flower, or paying the toll for the person behind me on the turnpike. You know, something cheesy like that.

Now that I'm older (though not necessarily wiser, let's face it) I've realized that the people that need kindness and senseless beauty are the ones closest to me.

Be kind.

*The piña coladas above were delivered by my next door neighbor on an evening I really needed them. Talk about random and beautiful acts.
